Diving, ecological reserve

San Benedicto and Socorro islands are two of the most remote islands in Mexico, located approximately 250 nautical miles (or 24 hours one way) south of Cabo San Lucas. While the cooler waters limit the amount of coral, there are a myriad of species including mantas, Wahoo, marlin, dolphins, turtles, whales, schools of yellow fin tuna, and many varieties of sharks such as hammerheads and Galapagos.
“The Boiler” is a submerged seamount and cleaning station, and an excellent dive site where more than a half dozen mantas appear regularly.
Humpback whales visit during the winter months of December through March. This is a splendid time to hear the sound of the singing mating male escorts underwater.
This destination can only be dived by a live-aboard dive vessel.
